Eric Brunner, six others make the first cut
January 23, 2009

Eric Brunner, who left Metro mid-season last year after refusing to be bumped down to a developmental deal, is one of seven players who made it out of rookie/free agent camp. Brunner, who played for Miami FC of the USL last year, is joined by former Los Angeles draft pick, Colorado reserve player, and Charleston Battery forward Aaron King.

Other players to make the cut are goalkeeper Alec Dufty (University of Evansville), midfielders Mohammed Mashriqi (Long Island University) and Jerry Saintil (Seton Hall), and forwards Patrick Figueiredo (Adelphi Univeristy) and Mauricio Turizo (Giants de Carolina/Puerto Rico).

Joining the seven are midfielder Gordon Kljestan, who was released during the offseason, Rochester defender Scott Palguta, who was a preseason invitee last year as well, former Colorado midfielder Nico Colaluca, and multiple-time Metro reject Diego Serna, who wasn't close to making the team when trying out last year.
